We went to Pirate’s Cove, which is a very fun amusement park. I lost my CTR ring, so I was very sad at first.

Retelling the Farmyard Tales

I love to read the Farmyard Tales with the Boot Family. After we read the stories (and listened to the audio CD) and read them some more, Mom asked me if I wanted to make Apple Tree Farm. Mom simply drew a hillside and a pond on a piece of paper and I went to town adding the animals! Farmyard sticker stories was simple but plenty fun! We used farm animal stickers to retell our favorite farmyard stories. Mom bought a small bag of farm animals foam stickers at the Dollar Store during our excursion the other day. Then after my rudimentary drawing on the paper, I went to town adding the animals to the scene!

We had to add a fence for the sheep pen, a chicken coop, and a barn for the larger animals. After I played with the animals for a time, I asked where Ted (the farm helper) was, so we added him, as well as Mrs. Boot, Poppy, and Sam. Then, after we drew the old steam train, I wanted Mr. Boot in the picture too.

I had the animals talk to each other. Ted and the other stationary people joined conversations too. But then the best part of my play came in: I asked if we could put the fire in the picture so they could call the fire engine. You see, in one of the stories in the complete Farmyard Tales collection, the children and Ted smell smoke and see it coming from the hay barn. I won’t tell you have that particular story ends, but let’s just say I love that the family must call the fire engine. I had to go get my “fire engine,” which in this particular moment was the puzzle I enjoy doing.

I wanted to sleep with my picture under her pillow so the animals could hear the stories as I listened to them before bed!

More Learning Moments

I play with friends at the LZHN co-op in May 2015.

Making Our Own Lift-the-Flap Book

After reading a fun colorful lift-the-flap book, we made our own lift-the-flap book just like it.
We made pages for all the different things we see in the Springtime.

I think my favorite page was the Storm page. Although I am always afraid of storms, I still loves to watch them!
